Boosting innovation and gastronomic quality remain two major hallmarks of Alimentaria 2018, one of the world biggest food, drinks and hospitality shows. Alimentaria 2018 ́s activities are geared towards identifying the main trends and enhancing the connections between the food, gastronomic and tourist industries

The Alimentaria Experience event at Alimentaria 2018 will host over 200 activities, workshops, tastings and cooking shows with a selected group of chefs that own close to 40 Michelin stars - Carme Ruscalleda, world’s female chef with most Michelin stars-, Andoni Luis Aduriz or Paco Pérez, among others. Spain is currently at the world’s top 5 countries with Michelin stars restaurants with top world’s award winning Michelin star chefs.

The area of The Alimentaria Hub will become a knowledge, trends, innovation and business centre, in which more than 11,200 meetings will take place between international buyers and exhibiting companies from more than 70 countries. According to Antonio Valls, managing director of Alimentaria Exhibitions: “world cooking is transforming thanks to innovation and internationalisation. Technology, innovation and internationalisation are changing the world. We are living a culinary revolution where the gastronomy is investing more and more on innovation and the search for synergies with sectors like the food and tourism industry.”


Wine and Olive Oil, Spanish giants at Alimentaria 2018

Alimentaria has become the place to find all Spanish Wines and Spirits with nearly 800 exhibitors expected to attend and over 100 Olive Oil brands to be showcased. Top international wine experts such as British Jancis Robinson or Richard Juhlin, the world's number one champagne expert, known for skills in blind tasting, will be participating at the Vinorum Think event within Alimentaria Show 2018, which will be introducing new wines and showcasing almost 300 Spanish and foreign brands.

Spain produces about half the world's total olive oil exported making, Spain olive oil Olive Oil Bar event visitors will discover some of the best extra virgin olive oils in the world, with more than 100 references and latest innovations and trends in the segment of gourmet olive oils. Spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oils have multiplied their international presence in recent years. More than half of the national olive oil production is exported to 65 countries of the world.

Average annual production of olive oil in Spain over recent years has been around 1.75 million tons. 65% of exports go to the countries of the European Union, while sales in key markets such as the United States, China, Australia and Brazil grow year after year.
