Spain, specialisation in Olive Growing and Olive Oil Technology

On 29 October 2019, the Executive Director of the International Olive Council, Abdellatif Ghedira, participated in the launch of the Master's Degree in Olive Growing and Olive Oil Technology at the University of Jaén.

The launch was hosted by the magnificent rector of the university, Juan Gómez Ortega. Also present were the President of the Provincial Council of Jaén, Francisco Reyes Martínez, Sub-Director of the Caja Rural de Jaén, Luis Jesús García-Lomas Pousibet, and Adoración Mozas Moral, Director of the program.

The inaugural conference was held by Samir Mili, researcher of the Spanish National Research Council, on the "Situation and challenges of the olive sector".

During the event, the Executive Director stressed the importance of this program for the qualification of human resources in the olive sector. He stressed that soon the two institutions will sign a cooperation agreement to formalize a lasting and fruitful relationship and recognize the contribution of these studies.

He also pointed out that the strong and growing demand for Ioc scholarships for the specialization course in virgin olive oil tasting is proof of the pre-eminence of these studies and the links that bind these two institutions.

Ravioli with Garda extra virgin olive oil stuffing and black olive charcoals

Extra Virgin Garda DOP olive oil’s distinctive traits are its naturally delicate flavor and its elegance. At the taste it can be recognized for harmony or its organoleptic notes and for the light and balanced aromas: the scents of fresh grass, aromatic herbs, hay and artichoke, together with the typical almond aftertaste, make it unique.
